There is an older girl on B & C's bus that gives the little guys a hard time. Charlie was telling Mark about this last night. Mark's advice to him was to tell her that she is insecure the next time she calls them names. Then she can go home and ask her Mommy what insecure means and if her mommy has a problem with that, she can call me and I'll be happy to explain the situation.
Fast forward to this morning:
Mark: What are you going to say to (I'll leave her name out) if she calls you names?
Charlie: You're inspired!

Smile Train
B & C 's school is collecting for The Smile Train this week. The kids have activities and competitions all week. Every day this week we are to send them to school with spare change. The first two days I filled some baggies with change for each of them.
Today I suggested that they put some of their own change in baggies to bring in. We talked about what is means to have a cleft and why these children need our help.
I should mention that Ben is a SAVER. He doesn't even want to spend his money on toys because then he won't have any money left (it's such a hard concept). He keeps his money in his ATM and only takes it out so that he can put it back in.
He came downstairs with his baggie FULL of coins and bills. I asked him if he really wanted to donate all of his money. I thought maybe he didn't understand what he was doing.
Ben: Yes, mom, is this enough to fix TWO lips?
Me: Yes. I'm sure it is. That is so thoughtful of you, Ben. I am so proud of you (totally tearing up).
Ben: Good, because I really don't want anyone to make fun of them. I want to fix two lips.
We never even talked about the possibility that anyone would make fun of these children. We had only discussed them not being able to eat or talk well.
Charlie also filled up his baggie with all he had. He is not much a saver, so he didn't have as much as Ben, but he gave it all.

Cauliflower for dinner
Ben: I don't like Cauliflower
Mom: You need to take a bite.
Ben: (gagging) Nope, I still don't like it.
Mom: I don't understand why. You love broccoli and it's almost the same as broccoli.
Ben: No, it is not the same, it is very SEPARATE!

Last post with this camera
I am upgrading! I'm kind of sad to go let this camera go, but it's all packed up and ready to be sent to a friend of mine who bought it. I took thousands of pictures of my kids with it, so I'm a little attached. I am VERY excited for my new 40D to get here. Maybe I can slowly turn this hobby into a business (in my spare time - haha!).

Cooper's Cake
This is an "At & T"
Sorry for the confusion. Now you know how I felt. It turns out that what they really want is one of these:
Ben said if he had an "AT & T phone" he could keep it in the pocket of his backpack and then call me when he is on the bus on his way home. That way I can have a snack ready for him when he gets here. He's so thoughtful!
