On the day Ben and Charlie were born, I was doing my own version of planes, trains and automobiles (well, taxi) When I landed at San Francisco airport, I knew that Kendra was in labor (having kept track with the on board telephone) so was anxious to get to the hospital. I got a cab driver, told him my story, and he turned in a driving performance worthy of NASCAR drivers (of course, he followed all of the road rules) When I got to the hospital, I was directed to the waiting room, and then......I waited. I stopped every doctor and nurse who happened to come by, but no one could give me any information. Suddenly, a nurse (one I had bothered before) came by with a bassinette and a tiny little baby. I asked her, again, if she had any news and she said, well, I'd like to introduce you to one of your grandsons. It's hard to believe, really, but she then asked if I would like to hold you!!!! what do you think I said? Well, I got to hold you, Charlie, and what a sweet little doll you were. It would be a couple of hours before I could see Ben.

I love you very much, Charlie. I think six is going to be a very special year for you, and can't wait to find out what this year will bring for you.

Love Grandmama (and Grampy)

XOXOXOXO
